Day 1 – 3
Your journey will begin in Barcelona with a two night stay at Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona, located on the fashionable Passeig de Gràcia avenue. Explore all Barcelona has to offer before beginning your cruise. Visit the magnificent basilica Sagrada Família, wander the city’s most famous street La Rambla, marvel at the incredible views from Gaudí’s Park Güell, or relax at Barcelona’s beautiful beaches. On day 3 guests will transfer to the port to begin their 12 night cruise onboard Oceania’s Vista.
Day 4
The first stop is Palma de Mallorca, Spain. This city has a rich cultural heritage inherited from the Romans, Moors and Catholics who lived here since 123 BC. Stroll through the narrow cobbled streets of Palma’s casco antiguo and admire its elegant archways, grand historic palacios, medieval churches and charming squares. Be sure to discover the amazing natural wonders in the Drach Caves. Also not to be missed is a visit to Bellever Castle and Spain’s second largest Gothic Cathedral or take a trip to Valldemossa, a village steeped with old world charm.
Day 5
Next your cruise will dock in Saint-Tropez, France. Explore the exquisite hilly Provençal countryside and the charming villages full of narrow stepped streets and magnificent churches. Visit a local winery or take a picturesque drive along the rugged coast.
Day 6
The next destination is Florence, Italy. Spend the day exploring the spectacular architecture of this Renaissance city. Visit the Duomo with Brunelleschi’s dome, the famous baptistry, Michelangelo’s magnificent David, the bridge over the Arno and the impressive Uffizii Gallery. Alternatively, explore the Tuscan countryside, Siena and San Gimignano, famous for its medieval towers.
Day 7
Next your cruise will dock in Olbia, a charming town on the north east coast of Sardinia, Italy. Wander through this beautiful town and visit its 11th century cathedral with Roman artifacts and Punic burials. Alternatively, choose to drive through the stunning countryside of the Costa Smeralda with its soaring cliffs, quiet grottoes and pristine sandy beaches beside emerald green waters.
Day 8
Today your cruise will dock in Rome, Italy. This ancient city is full of culture and home to ancient monuments and magnificent churches. Be sure to visit the Vatican, with its Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica, and the ancient ruins of the Colosseum. Those looking for something different can enjoy a drive through the lush farmlands of the Roman countryside to the beautiful medieval town, Castel Gandolfo. Of course, a trip to Rome is not complete without an obligatory coin toss into the famous Trevi Fountain.
Day 9
The next stop is Naples, Italy’s third largest city. With the looming Mount Vesuvius as its backdrop, this 2,800 year old port city is full of historical sites, churches, beautiful piazzas and is rich in centuries-old culture and customs. Spend the day exploring the city, visiting the incredible ruins of ancient Pompeii, visit charming Sorrento or take a boat trip to the beautiful Isle of Capri.
Day 10
Next, your cruise will stop in Messina, the third largest city on the island of Sicily, Italy. Visit beautiful Taormina and marvel at its famous Greek theater and the incredible view of Mount Etna. A must visit when in Messina is the 12th-century Norman cathedral which was rebuilt after a 1908 earthquake destroyed it and much of the town.
Day 11
The next day is a day onboard Oceania’s Vista. Take this time to recharge before your next port of call. Lounge by the pool, visit the spa, treat your tastebuds at one of the many onboard restaurants or enjoy some entertainment.
Day 12 – 13
The next destination is Istanbul, Turkey, where you will enjoy a docked overnight stay. Spend these two days exploring all this magnificent city has to offer. Visit one of the many museums or wander through the spice market and the famous Grand Bazaar. Be sure you don’t miss a trip to the spectacular Blue Mosque and the stunning Topkapi Palace.
Day 14
Today your cruise will dock in Bozcaada. This island in Turkey is a true Aegean gem with beautiful beaches and characterful whitewashed buildings. Browse enticing souvenirs crafted by local artisans or explore the towns magnificent 15th century castle, which is located beside the harbour.
Day 15 – 17
Your cruise will end in Athens where guests will transfer to The Dolli Acropolis for a two night stay. This ancient city is famous for its rich culture, ancient ruins, and beautiful beaches. Spend your days exploring this fascinating city with an abundance of attractions to see including the Acropolis Museum, the Temple of Olympian Zeus, and the Acropolis of Athens, a citadel situated on a rocky outcrop containing ruins of several ancient buildings.
