Spectacular scenery

Spectacular scenery

Thousands of years of volcanic activity have left their mark on the Canary Islands and visitors can look forward to mesmerising views as well as a fascinating insight into the unique local geology. The highest peak in Spain, the volcano of Mount Teide, towers over Tenerife, whilst in Lanzarote lunar-like landscapes are particularly impressive in the island’s popular national park, Timanfaya. Lush pine forests cover the mountainous peaks of Gran Canaria’s interior, a captivating contrast to the island’s beautiful coastline.

A unique culture

Caribbean, African and Spanish influences merge together in the Canary Islands, evident in the architecture and cuisine across the archipelago. Visitors can enjoy discovering perfectly preserved colonial streets and pretty towns full of whitewashed houses before sampling typical Canarian food, perhaps alongside some of the delicious local wine, produced by vineyards covered in black, volcanic ash.
