Arrive into Thailand's bustling capital, Bangkok. The city is jam packed with ways to spend your time here. Visit iconic sites such as the Grand Palace, once the official residence of the King of Siam, and Wat Phra Kaew, home to the revered Emerald Buddha before taking a short walk to Wat Pho to see the Reclining Buddha. A must during any visit to Thailand is exploring the street food vendors and enjoying local dishes such as Pad Thai or Khao Pad, the Thai version of fried rice. In the evening. explore Asiatique, a bustling night market on the opposite side of the river from the hotel.

Bangkok to Ayutthaya

Depart from Anantara Riverside Bangkok and step aboard Loy River Song, a traditional Thai river cruise boat offering an elevated level of luxury. Sail to Koh Kret, a charming island in the Chao Phraya River and visit a pottery factory for a handicraft lesson from the Mon people who have been practicing their craft for generations. Enjoy a beautiful lunch back on board the boat, continuing the journey to Wat Niwet Worawihan where the boat will dock for the evening. Watch the sunset with a cocktail before indulging in the ultimate dining experience, celebrating Thai fusions cuisine with perfectly paired wines.

Ayutthaya

After breakfast on board take the opportunity to explore Wat Worawihan, Thailand's only European-style cathedral. Arriving via cable car on to the private island where the cathedral is situated, there will be the opportunity to admire this stunning piece of architecture. Visit Bang Pa-In Palace, the summer residence of the King, admiring the intricate shrines and serene waterways. In the afternoon, take to the canals of Ayutthaya on longtail boat and arrive at Wat Phanan Choeng, one of the oldest temples in this historic region, explore the grounds and learn about the deep rooted history surrounding this sacred site. Later, enjoy a tour of the UNESCO-listed ancient ruins of Ayutthaya, once the capital city of Thailand. 

Ayutthaya to Bangkok

Arise early to begin the day with some calming meditation before paying a visit to Wat Bot and taking part in the morning alms ritual.. Alms giving involves giving offerings such as food to the Buddhist monks in return for a blessing and is a daily occurance seen throughout Thailand. Upon return to the boat, take leave of Ayutthaya, sailing back along the Chao Phraya to Bangkok and enjoying one final meal on board before arriving back at the Anantara Riverside hotel at approximately 3pm. 

Khao Lak
